Hydrakraft is currently planning and conducting several pilot projects to commercialize the land based and offshore based solution.
Ongoing pilot at Utsira
The project running from 2024 - 2026 will test the land based solution wave energy production unit from Hydrakraft with the flow battery technology from Bryte Batteries. The project aims to determine the effectiveness of wave energy and whether flow batteries are the best storage solution for supplying green energy to the island community of Utsira.

The project is funded by Hydrakraft and Enova, and Bryte AS, Sustainable Energy and Fagne/Haugaland Kraft are contributing as partners.
A hybrid solution for offshore wave and wind
The project involves planning, dimensioning and calculating the development and piloting of a waterproof and robust offshore wave power plant that can easily connect to the same infrastructure as offshore wind and can provide short-term flexibility to the electricity grid. The result is a cost-effective, energy-dense, and predictable renewable energy source.
