Renewable energy for the next generation

Affordable wave power for energy companies and municipalities

The challenge of a lifetime

Electricity consumption is a significant global challenge, and wave power remains an untapped, renewable energy resource to solve this problem.

Wave power outperforms other energy sources in space efficiency, persistence and prediction rate. By combining wave power to offshore wind projects, energy companies can grow earnings, save costs and achieve a higher energy quality.

A clean and sustainable future

Hydrakraft has solved the key challenges of ocean wave energy utilization with more than two decades of research and trials. These efforts have yielded an affordable and non-polluting patented wave energy technology, available to meet the growing demand of green energy across the globe.

Hydrakraft has developed and designed an innovative wave energy converter with the inherent capability of surviving extreme weather, combined with excellent power generation capability.

The solution is scalable from small, land based farms to bigger sea based installations.

Changing the world - one step at a time

Hydrakraft is currently preparing a land based wave power pilot on the island municipality of Utsira, off the coast of Western Norway. The system will undergo extreme weather tests under real operating conditions from august 2025 to april 2026.

Sustainable Energy, Fagne, Haugaland Kraft and Bryte are project partners.

How the system works

A float bobs up and down with the waves. Attached to the seabed a cable rope is pulled on upward motion of the float, transferring energy to a winch unit containing the power take off machinery which, by means of appropriate mechanic and hydraulic elements and devices, turns the absorbed energy into electricity. Simple, yet robust, energy efficient and survivable.
